THE NASHVILLE EXPERIENCE

Hey there! Yes, Jill I and II are still here, alive and well reporting driver's side and beach bound. We had an insane amount of goings on in Nashville, fun, friends, trials and tribulations not discounted :) Day one we got to check out the downtown Hillsboro action, which is more of the college scene//locals hangout, and a good little strip of restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops nestled outside of music row and broadway.. We were welcomed by the legendary guitar player/best friend of mine (Nathan Crowson-Hello Dollface's first guitar player) and his most awesome equally musically talented other half Hannah and the house was never filled with anything but love and pure sonic genius. (they are both SAE recording school grads duh).. Day 2- was spent out and about in the streets Where we were able to discover the broader scope of the city and have a taste of the scene.. it was indefinitely inspiring and humbling for both of us in our own ways, as Nathan says "it brings a lot to the surface".. which we were able to fully embrace as a right of passage type of experience. This is afterall, music city. It sort of puts things into perspective.. good ways.. and real ways alike. We took a midnight trip to broadway and ran into some other fun musicians.. A sort of bluesy bluegrass trio out of Virginia, a couple homeless fun brothas and a whole other slough of characters that really defined the evening.. wow. Haha Day 3- we got the call for a featured documentary we were invited to participate in (which was an honor) covering artists and east Nashville- (Artists such as Amelia White.. Etc.) which has a more eclectic, alternative scene and neighborhood. We performed 3 songs and had a great experience.. It os featured by a blossoming online publication THE ALTERNATE ROOT- well post the video as soon as it becOmes available..! Exciting! ... later in the day we went to busk broadway again to make more $$$ and it turned out we had an alarming car interuption experience.. brakes replacement.. so long story turned great I soloed on broadway for a few hours.. made A few bones$ had a couple good homeless-men-bring-you-hope-and-encouragement-when-you-are-searching-for-feel-good-reasons-to-be-a-struggling-sweaty-musician-with-7-heavy-bags-of-musical-equipment-in-snakeskin-heel-booties- haha! after my traipsing around Nashville and somewhat reaffirming busk sesh, I walked in to margaritaville with ALL of my belongings and Jimmy (the house act) offered to let me sing a few, I had a marg, met back up with Cait and called it a day! WHEW! Day 4- east Nashville hangout// rehearsal// packed.. we will be back to play Music City Bar on the 10th and the Country Music Hall of Fame on 12th for Kate and Ryans Weddin! WE MADE IT TO NASHVILLE!

10 hours later....we drove through the mid-western country, ate at LAMBERTS where they throw rolls...drove some more...laughed..joked...drove...slept..drank too much water...got pulled over...sped more..slowed down..ok.. you get it. HA. ROAD WARRIOR-esses we are becoming.

We made it last night to the fabulous music city without any battle scars.. although..this morning when we woke..we did have a small accident...before we even made it out of the driveway..called AAA..but

then THIS MAN showed up..magically lifted the car off the bricks that were suspending this car mid-air and we were successfully on our way to the ville of Nash city centrum. Hallelujah.  This is only the beginning...

STAX & SUN take the long road tour-day 1,2,3!

HA! We are having a BALL.  We started off at Derailed Saloon, with a kickoff show with special guests the infamous Jesse O on stand up bass and Jimmy B on drums...  We left for the 505 and stayed with our awesome friend Allen in Albuquerque with a 4 am arrival! (thank you for the made out couch beds!)

..we made it with phones, keys, and selves by 9:15 on the road headed straight for Oologah, OK for a last minute show booked through our Oklahomie friend Brandon at the DAM SALOON. Awesome right? Except for the fact that we just happened to forget about the time forward that would occur while traveling Eastward for 11 hours straight....(which was awesome ps) owell.


we made it and were welcomed by quite the collection of guests and had a fun night! We even were on the Bar Bulletin marked on HWY 88 as "SAXS and SONS" HAHAH. it was perfect.  Thank you Rhonda for your hospitality!  We are here in OK for the next couple days..playing in Tulsa tonight at the Crystal Pistol and tomorrow at Cherry St Coffee CO, you can check www.staxandsun.com  for details :)

we are totally SET up here in an amazing place of Talala OK, in an amazing fifth wheel on amazing property with Oklahomies Brandon and brother Justin, whom we were carted around this morning in a rad-mobile through the humid green flatlands and lakes of the mid-west.  Hallelujah for southern hospitality..We are having a BLAST.  Stay tuned for more...look for all videos on our Stax and Sun facebook page, and like us, we appreciate the support!

sometimes LumberJills need to get organized, especially when going on tour.  i am leaving for the front range with Hello Dollface this weekend, albuquerque and Santa Fe for shows the following, then Stax and Sun is Southbound for 20 days! this is why stax♥ has decided to be so diligent and clean the box.   (box= stax's 12x12 studio behind her mothers house of course)

let me just say-
 leopard tights, sparkly bandeaus, and hangers oh my.

how 'bout some storage solutions? this box has absolutely zero storage so stax decides to makeshift and get clean. the box is actually a fully functional touring-friendly space. In the last year, little staxy graduated college and became a big girl... (NOT!haha). well..technically graduated, but still have a LOT of growing up to go.. i actually had 3 job to job transitions..leading to ultimate unemployment, car-lessness, moved 7 times, and got rid of the X(_namegoeshere). rather than keeping my title "unemployed" i transitioned to a full-time title "musician" and realized that there was a lot to these transitions and I was ultimately preparing myself for the touring lifestyle. This means= little possessions..   theres just.... many clothing items. :D
